Grandma’s Good & Easy Pizza Dough

The Adachi Family from Crosspointe came over for dinner and I made them my homemade pizza, it was a hit with the grownups and kids! This recipe is so nostalgic to me it’s unreal…..

It all started when I was turning 4yrs old. I was allowed to invite friends over my house and I was so excited because my grandma Beauvais was coming over that night to help me and all my friends create our own pizzas for my birthday party! Now that I’m grown I can only imagine the controlled chaos there that night but grandma always had a teaching spirit and a smile on her face. It was the best birthday party ever!

Then there were so many times we would pop in at Grandma’s house and she’d whip up this dough. It would be rising on top of the warm oven for about 20-30 min and just that quickly about 20 of us Italians would be rolling it out and choosing our toppings, laughing and catching up all the while.

Then I got married and had my own husband and family to cook for. At my wedding shower my Grandma made sure she hand wrote the recipe for her pizza dough on a recipe card for me and it is something I cherish dearly.

This past March, just 3 short months ago, my adorable Italian grandma went to see the Jesus she loved so much. If anyone was an amazing example of being His hands and feet she was! I learned so much from her about life, loving others, making time for people, and how to master a homemade pizza dough. So…(as I tear up) it is with great memories that I share this recipe with all of you. Enjoy! Bella Vita!

1 Tablespoon dry yeast
1 Cup warm water
1 Teaspoon salt
1 Teaspoon sugar
2 Tablespoons oil
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in rest of ingredients. Beat 20 strokes or on Medium speed for 30 seconds if using an electric mixer with a dough hook. Work into a ball and place in bowl and cover with kitchen towel. Let rise 5-20 minutes until dough rises and almost doubles in size. Spread dough over greased pan. Top with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and any other topping of your taste. Bake *425 oven for 15-18 minutes.
